GERMAN SHEPHERD HAD TWO SEIZURES PHENOBARBITAL

June 09, 2014

Hello,

I just have a quick question. Well, about a few days ago, my cousin’s 4 year old purebred German Shepherd had two seizures. He was taken to the vet and was put on a certain medication called Pheno Barbital. He acted fine for a couple of days but suddenly, he had another two seizures. We are concerned from what can be causing them? I would appreciate it if you had any suggestions for us of what we could do to help him.

Hi Anthony,

Your dog could have been poisoned, or could have epilepsy...the Phenobarbital is to stop seizures, but it takes a least a week to build up to a protective level in the blood...If this continues more that another week...go back to the vet!
