STOOL WAS CONSISTENTLY OF VERY POOR QUALITY MAY BE CAUSED BY ALLERGY TO AN INGREDIENT

June 10, 2014

I fed my 3 year old dog the Everyday Health formula for about 2 weeks. During that time, his stool was consistently of very poor quality, often gelatinous. He would sometimes have up to 4 movements during a single walk, whereas he usually has only one. Since taking him off the supplement 3 days ago, his stool has quickly returned to normal. My layman’s theory is that it may be the cultures which are in the supplement. Please give me your opinion. (My dog LOVED the flavor by the way.) Thanks.

Hi Adan,

This is indeed a strange situation. I don’t think the culture should cause problems, as the “good” bacteria normally only help.. There is always a chance with any dog that they might be allergic to an ingredient. Anything’s possible. So my guess would be that there may be an intolerance to a portion of the vitamin or mineral content in the supplement. My feeling is that you should wait a week and then start her out on a very small amount each day and over a ten day period, gradually reaching the prescribed amount. If she can only tolerate a little less than is advised, it will probably still be beneficial to her in the long run.. Please let me know. Happy New Year!
